Welcome to Wellington Lions Primary Academy
Hello and a very warm welcome to Wellington Lions Primary Academy. It is a privilege to introduce myself as the Headteacher of this wonderful school, and I am delighted that you are taking the time to learn more about our community.
I bring nearly 30 years of experience as a teacher and school leader, and during my career I have had the joy of teaching children from ages 4 to 14. My work has taken me into schools in both affluent areas and communities facing significant challenges, and these experiences have shaped my belief that every child deserves the highest quality education, care and opportunity – no matter their starting point.
I also understand the community of Tidworth deeply. My family moved to Wiltshire in 2002, when my husband was serving in REME, and we chose to make this area our home. I know firsthand the realities of army life, the transitions it brings, and the impact it can have on children. This understanding sits at the heart of my commitment to ensuring that Wellington Lions is a place where every child feels secure, supported and able to thrive.
One of the greatest joys of my career has been promoting a love of reading. At Wellington Lions, we believe that books open doors – to imagination, to knowledge, and to connection. Sharing stories is a powerful way to build relationships, spark curiosity and help children make sense of the world around them. You will see reading celebrated across our school: in our assemblies, in our classrooms, in our library spaces and in the everyday conversations we have with children about the books they love. Encouraging children to read widely and joyfully is a core part of who we are.
Our school motto –“Everybody working together to be the best they can be” – is more than a statement. It reflects who we are. Our core values of Perseverance, Respect, Independence and Daring form the foundation of our school and together spell out PRIDE. This pride is not just an acronym; it is the spirit that unites us as a community.
Much like a family of lions, we see ourselves as a pride: a team that supports one another, celebrates each child’s strengths and encourages every individual to shine. We want our children to grow not only academically, but also personally -becoming confident, compassionate and resilient young people who are ready for the world.
Our dedicated staff work tirelessly to create a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious environment where every child is known, valued and encouraged to achieve their very best. We are proud of our diverse and vibrant community, and we celebrate the unique talents and experiences that each child brings to our school.
We also believe strongly in the importance of partnership with parents and carers. A positive homeschool relationship is key to a child’s success, and we are committed to open, supportive communication with all our families. By working together, we can ensure that your child’s journey at Wellington Lions is filled with joy, growth and memorable experiences.
Thank you for visiting our website. I look forward to welcoming you into our Wellington Lions pride, where PRIDE is at the heart of everything we do, where reading is cherished, and where every child is encouraged to be the very best they can be.
